Steve, one of the columnists for the New York Times, walked past the Markhor headquarters and stopped short, noticing something a bit different.
“Why are the lights of the HQ turned off?” he murmured, walking up to the front door. Just then, it opened, causing Steve to stagger back.
“M! It’s been a while!” he exclaimed. M, the Markhor Gentleman smiled, as he stepped out of the Markhor HQ, closing the door behind him.
“It sure has! How have you been, Steve?”
“I’ve been well, M. Busy but quite well. M, if I may ask, why is it so dark inside the HQ? Is the team not here today? I was hoping to get another article for my column,” inquired Steve. M’s gaze suddenly turned sad as he glanced towards the HQ.
.
“Steve, you have joined us on a memorable day.”
.
“Why is that, M?”
“Today is the day we bid farewell to Markhor,” M replied, causing Steve’s eyes to widen.
“It is true that the team isn’t here today. They are already at our new destination but I wanted to stay behind and cherish a few last moments at the HQ,” he continued.
“But why is Markhor closing?” exclaimed Steve in surprise.
.
“You can refer to it as... An evolution, Steve. Times change and with it, we must too. It felt like the right time for us to grow into something new and this year, we’re finally taking the leap.”
.
“That’s so inspiring to hear!”
“Since you said that you’re looking for another article for your column, you might just be the lucky one who gets to publish the first article about this new phase of our brand. I was just about to leave for the new location. Would you like to join me?” M asked.
“It would be my pleasure, M,” Steve replied. Together, both men walked up to M’s Bentley and were soon on their way.
“We live in a world full of commercialised processes established for the mass market,” M began, causing Steve to nod in agreement.
“As necessary as they are, everything has become very monotonous. Life is moving so fast that it has left no space for creativity. This is a loophole that we discovered and are working to fill. In a mechanised world, we want to focus on and highlight the art of handmade products. This was something we did at Markhor, too, but now want to work on it even more.
“When one buys a product, they know the designer whose name has been branded on it but they rarely know about the artists who worked really hard in manufacturing that product. That is our main goal here."
.
That is why, we’re calling our brand Craftpur, a community in which we bring together the world’s greatest craftsmen to a common platform, where their rich artisan heritage is showcased, as well as appreciated by those who value quality and attention towards detail.
.
"We want to highlight the craftsmen who work diligently in hand-making each footwear and accessory at Craftpur,” M explained. Just then, they pulled up Craftpur’s brand new headquarters. Steve stared out the window of the Bentley in awe.
“That is amazing! I feel so honoured to be the first person to learn about Craftpur. I am also extremely thrilled for everything that Craftpur will introduce in the future!” he exclaimed, causing M to smile.
“We are even more ecstatic to start this new journey. Who knows, you may even hear of me with a new identity in the coming days. Here’s to Craftpur and all the wonderful memories we’ll be making along the way!”
